We adopted our dog, Madi from joyful rescues 8 years ago. She passed away recently, so I looked them up again and was surprised to find so many 1 * reviews for them! Yes, their criteria for adoption is stringent, and perhaps if I put an application in today I could be denied for not having a fenced in yard or something, but that doesn't mean that they're a bad rescue. It means that they care for the animals and don't want to see them returned. There's plenty of rescues out there - if you get denied, just go somewhere else. Don't trash this organization and insinuate that they "must not care for the animals." that's just an illogical conclusion borne from hurt feelings. They're a good group, that's all anyone needs to know.
Currently we have 2 rescue dogs in our family and 4 rescued cats and felt that we had enough love for one more . But in their wisdom Joyful Rescue determined we didn't ? And of course they are so busy they couldn't possibly provide any reasons? So since I discovered that they are in person each week in a pet shop near us I will just have to take the time to go and ask them . Who knows ? Maybe I'll get the chance to meet the pup we wanted to make a part of our family ? And explain to her why she is still in a pen instead of a home !
Well I guess a family that has 2 retired adults and an adult son doesn't meet the criteria to adopt from this organization ? Even though we have had nothing but rescue pets for the last 25 plus years ? And without checking a single reference that was requested ?
I must admit when filling out their required application (before even being allowed to visit the dog we were interested in adopting ) I had my misgivings . I have cared for pets since I was 6 years old and believe me that was quite a while ago but wasn't about to attempt to provide them with a list of each one of them , their gender and breed, and why I no longer have them ?
Although I would never want to discourage anyone from getting a pet through a rescue, I have to strongly advise against this particular rescue. They seem to have zero interest in putting these animals into good homes. Their application states they will get back to you in 4 business days, but they won't. They will continuously ignore emails until you are at the point of begging. They will deny a family that has the means and desire to give a dog a wonderful life, simply because this family hasn't owned a dog in several years. A family that has land, a big yard, and a family member that is a retiree and will spend her days loving the dog and going for walks. A family that has a daughter that is a veterinary technician and will ensure the dog receive all proper care and can be there to answer questions. But NOPE. Instead, that sweet little girl still has no one to call hers. No family to love on her all day, every day. This organization has been horrendously unprofessional to me in the past and I elected to let that go and try again. But I am now certain that these people have zero interest in doing what is best for these animals. Very unfortunate.
Joyful Rescues is amazing. They are very thorough in making sure you are the right family to adopt one of their babies and very friendly. We adopted my beautiful baby girl 6 months ago and thanks to Denise and the crew my heart is whole again. Thank you so much. Highly recommend
Truly wish I could give a 0 STAR review. You denied a VETERAN to adopt?!?!? What is wrong with you???!!! Amazing people who love dogs want to adopt and you deny them. Your a horrible organization.
